Sal Passamano

In case anyone is still reading this, I just came across Mr. Passamano’s obituary in the Register Citizen (copied below). He was a very kind chemistry teacher. Our sympathies go out to his family.

HENDERSON, Nev. - Salvatore L. Passamano, of Henderson, Nevada, formerly of Norfolk, Connecticut, died Nov. 28, 2009, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born Sept. 1, 1927, in New Britain, the son of the late Frank and Josephine Passamano.

He attended St. Mary’s School in New Britain and graduated from New Britain High School. He later received degrees from the University of Toledo, the University of Hartford and St. Joseph’s College. Mr. Passamano was, for many years, a chemistry teacher at Northwestern Regional High School. He also taught at Northwestern Connecticut Community College. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Japan following World War II.

He is survived by a longtime companion, Tamsen Andrews; five daughters, Rosemary Dahlen of Barkhamsted, Anna Hall of Torrington, Josine Mason of Visalia, Calif., Jacqueline Passamano of Brunswick, Ga., and Leslie Murphy of Amenia, N.Y.; a step-daughter, Vicki Hancock; a brother, Russell Passamano; Frank Warner; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Frances; two sisters, Angeline Bonola and Mary Welch; and a brother, Louis Passamano.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regional School District # 7, for a memorial fund to aid students in the science department.

Funeral services will begin on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at 9 a.m. from the New Britain Memorial & Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, all in New Britain.
